About

Hi, I’m Toby — an independent professional celebrant with a lifelong dedication to people and their stories.

My career has taken many fulfilling turns, all connected by one thread: caring for others. I began as a qualified nurse, working in hospital and community settings, before stepping into leadership roles, training, and volunteer management. One of my most rewarding chapters was at a local children’s hospice charity, where I worked alongside incredible teams and volunteers, supporting life-limited children, engaging communities and supporters and championing the wellbeing of our staff.

Training with the Academy of Professional Celebrants felt like a natural progression. With over thirty years in care, my communication skills have been finely honed, and I’ve developed a deep understanding of empathy, listening and connection. I’m a people person whether sharing in someone’s joy, bringing a little humor or offering quiet strength during life’s difficult moments.

Outside work, I help run a local community choir where I not only sing but serve on the committee and host our concert nights. I also regularly run quiz nights and charity events, and I truly enjoy public speaking. At home with my partner, our beautiful whippet Coco has brought lots of joy. I love spending time in my garden, soaking up nature, and cherishing time with friends and family.

I believe every person is unique—defined by their personality, life journey, and the lens through which they view the world. It’s an honour to help couples and families craft ceremonies that reflect who they and their loved ones are, weaving stories into moments that are meaningful. I bring a flair for creative writing and storytelling to every ceremony, making sure it truly connects.
